Work Package 5 (WP5) will develop automated tools, based on already existing datasets, using the newest advancements in machine learning, deep learning and artificial intelligence. As these tools develop, they will also be put into use on new datasets as collected in WPs 3-4, significantly reducing the intensive manual annotation process traditionally associated with the creation of seafloor and habitat maps. This will enable the timely processing of the large quantities of data acquired as part of BEcoME, acoustic maps and seafloor images, as well as be crucial in the near future.
